ThreatStream to Provide Rich Cyber Threat Intelligence in Big Data Environments; Improves Efficiency and Relevancy with Cloudera Certified Integration

ThreatStream Optic Certified with Cloudera Enterprise 5;
Company Joins Cloudera Connect Program

SAN FRANCISCO AND REDWOOD CITY, CA – May 14, 2015 – ThreatStream®, the leading provider of enterprise-class threat intelligence protection, today announced that Cloudera has certified the Optic Link™ integration between the ThreatStream Optic™ threat intelligence platform and Cloudera Enterprise 5, a next-generation Apache™ Hadoop® powered platform. The integration and certification leverages Impala, a leading open source analytics database for Hadoop. This certification enables Cloudera customers to more easily consume threat intelligence data from the most comprehensive threat intelligence platform on the market today. Using the ThreatStream Optic Link integration software, enterprises can, for the first time, pull rich cyber threat intelligence feeds into Cloudera Enterprise 5, improving the operational efficiency and relevancy of the security applications being managed in the Cloudera environment. ThreatStream Optic is now a Cloudera Certified Technology and ThreatStream is now a member of the Cloudera Connect Partner Program.

“With the rise of data breaches and targeted attacks, cybersecurity is a key challenge organizations are encountering.” said Tim Stevens, vice president of corporate and business development, Cloudera. “With ThreatStream Optic and Cloudera Enterprise 5, enterprises are able to manage and operationalize threat intelligence in their big data environments.”

Cloudera, the leader in enterprise analytic data management, is changing the economics of data by constructing the best, broadest and most deeply integrated and centralized platform on which enterprises can store, process and analyze data in full fidelity while fully complementing existing storage strategies and analytic infrastructure investments. Cloudera Enterprise 5 is maximizing the opportunity for companies to gain value from all of their data without limits, while working alongside existing technology and business investments. Impala is the de facto standard for open source interactive business intelligence and data discovery. It is an integrated part of a Cloudera enterprise data hub - taking advantage of the unified resource management, metadata, security, and system administration across multiple frameworks.

The ThreatStream Optic platform automates the arduous task of feeding threat information into an organization's existing security infrastructure, organizes and optimizes work-flows by enabling community collaboration and analysis across industries, and it gives customers complete control of who they share data with, how much they share and the circumstances under which they share. The integration with Cloudera Enterprise 5 and Impala offers the deepest integration of threat intelligence and big data while giving customers the ability to develop security applications. This is critical, as an analytics-driven security approach is becoming an important aspect of proactive enterprise security strategy.

“Speed is a very important element of cybersecurity defense, and organizations need a way to be more proactive and responsive,” said Colby DeRodeff, chief strategy officer, ThreatStream. “This integration with Cloudera helps organizations using the Cloudera platform to operationalize threat intelligence for the first time, and to leverage curated threat intelligence much more easily, quickly, and effectively by providing an early warning system for threats.”
