Powell, USA (Ret.), will deliver the keynote speech at its third annual Detect ’18 conference. The event will take place from September 19-21, at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland.
The theme for Detect ‘18 is “Threatbusters,” with over 35 sessions focused on the latest cybersecurity threats and developments, and how organizations can stay protected. The event brings together IT leaders, threat analysts, security operations personnel, CISOs and CSOs from a wide variety of industries, offering a unique opportunity for cybersecurity professionals to exchange ideas, techniques and intelligence.

Powell served the U.S. in military and government positions for more than 60 years, first as a member of the United States Army, where he rose to the rank of Four-Star General. He was appointed as National Security Advisor to President Ronald Reagan, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to Presidents George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton, and as the 65th Secretary of State to President George W. Bush. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for Bloom Energy and Salesforce, and acts as a strategic advisor to Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, a Silicon Valley venture capital firm.
