Security Visionary Hugh Njemanze Named CEO of ThreatStream™

Serial Silicon Valley Entrepreneur was Founder/CTO of ArcSight

REDWOOD CITY, CA – July 24, 2014 – ThreatStream™, a threat intelligence platform that prioritizes threats and facilitates trusted threat sharing, today announced the appointment of Hugh Njemanze as chief executive officer (CEO). Formerly co-founder, chief technology officer (CTO) and executive vice president of research and development at ArcSight, Njemanze is regarded as the initial architect of Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), and helped establish ArcSight as one of the most successful security companies to come out of Silicon Valley in the last two decades. Most recently, Njemanze has served as an Entrepreneur in Residence at leading venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, applying his expertise in building successful security companies from the ground-up for the firm’s portfolio companies.

“Njemanze brings more than three decades of experience and veteran leadership to ThreatStream,” said Karim Faris, Google Ventures general partner. “His business acumen and technology expertise are the right combination to take ThreatStream to the next level.”

Njemanze co-founded ArcSight in May 2000 and led product development, information technology deployment and product research. As one of the founders of ArcSight, he was responsible for architecting what became the industry’s leading SIEM product. In 2010, Njemanze was named the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year in the Software category for Northern California. Also in 2010, HP acquired ArcSight for $1.75 billion; this resulted in expanded responsibilities for Njemanze, including leading all engineering and research and development efforts for HP’s Enterprise Security Products group. Previously, Njemanze served as CTO at Verity and held a software engineering position at Apple, where he was one of the key architects of the Data Access Language (DAL). He has over 20 issued patents and more patents pending in the area of network security.
